Data Upload

Images are uploaded* to PLACE’s secure data repository, currently (as of November 2023), implemented using NextCloud . On receipt imagery is vetted and approved before it is published to PLACE’s STAC Catalog. Only authorized users can upload data to PLACE’s data repository. 

To upload data:

1. Login into NextCloud (https://data.thisisplace.org).
2. Click the Files icon on the NextCloud dashboard.
3. Create a folder in your local NextCloud directory.
4. Upload images, associated files and report(s) to the folder you have created.
5. Share the folder with PLACE (PLACE Staff):

* in cases where images cannot uploaded (e.g. due to bandwidth) they can be mailed to PLACE on an encrypted disk.
